Management positions both in the private and public sector from small organisations to very large ones. Did 25 years in DWP in management positions & took early retirement to care for my wife. Have since done 15 years supporting carers at Preston Carers Centre until LCC closed carers centres in Lancashire in 2015.
Trustee with Spire from 2000 most of the time being the only Trustee who did not have a family member supported by Spire. For many years a strong supporter of Preston LD Forum.
Past roles included chair of Preston Voluntary Forum, Community Representative on Preston Strategic Partnership, Trustee at Preston & District Scope and chair of Lancashire Carers Forum.
Apart from my involvement in the sector for over 20 years. I was a founder member of Comensus and SUCAG the service user and carer groups at UCLan so most days I am interviewing, assessing and talking to students in various schools.
I also run Preston & District Carers Support Group and Preston & District 50+ Forum. I feel that my external activities apart from keeping me busy improves my understanding of the voluntary sector and the challenges individuals and groups face.
