Frank and Sue's Wedding Frank and Sue's Wedding

Frank and Sue have been together for 36 years.  Here is their story.
In Sue's own words.....
"It took a long time to organise.  Also it cost a lot of money.  I had already bought my wedding dress.  It is burgundy.  We were looking forward to the big day.  Also, we had bought most of the presents for the bridesmaid and other people.  We had a lot of help from the staff.  I picked the honeymoon myself.  We decided to go to the Isle of Bute.
But on the day the best part for me was my Dad giving me away and staying at Hazel's for the night.  Also, everything turning out the way we wanted it to.  But the best think of all was marrying Frank because we have waited years for this to happen".
Frank and Sue met at Bankside day centre when Sue left school.  They became good friends, but Frank worked weekends so they could only see each other during the week and Sue would often go around to Frank's house for tea.  When Frank's work days changed the relationship became more serious and they dated for a number of years.  Eventually, they moved in together and decided to get engaged, saving up in a coffee jar to buy the ring.
They went out for a meal with friends and family to celebrate, and a friend made them a lovely engagement cake.  However, for various reasons the wedding they had always wanted never happened.
They moved from the flat into a house because Frank wanted a garden.  In January 2006 Frank and Sue began their person-centred principles.  Once Frank's garden was complete, the team helped the couple to look at their budget and they saved really hard to pay for everything.
The Plan was reviewed regularly and the staff helped Frank to contact some family members whom he had lost contact with to tell them about the wedding.  Plans were well underway and Sue even made her own invitations with the help of the team.  The honeymoon was paid for the suits were organised. A friend offered to take the photographs of the big day. The flowers, buffet, cake and disco were booked and the champagne was on ice.
Frank had a 'stag-do' and Sue had one with her friends from work, one with friends and some of her support workers and a meal with family members.  Finally, their very special day had finally arrived after a lot of planning and a great deal of saving up!
The sun shone and the church was packed with friends and relations as Sue walked down the aisle on her Father's arm.  The bells rang as Mr and Mrs Hurst proudly walked out of church, arm in arm.  Over 70 people attended the afternoon buffet, and over a hundred people came to the celebration in total.  It was the most perfect wedding and enjoyed by all involved.
