Key Policies

Staff Handbook
Abridged version is integrated into contract of employment but full version is available on request from central office. In time to come is hoped to have available in electronic version as we look to develop a virtual private network and install pc's in service locations.

Health & Safety
Handout - Your Health and Safety at work is protected in law, Employers have a duty to protect you and keep you informed on health and safety. Link-ability provides separate training on health and safety. The law also places a duty on you to look after yourself as well as others.

Equal Opportunities
Link Abilities Equal Opportunities statement can be found within the staff handbook.

Training
The care sector has become a highly regulated industry since the year 2000, with the introduction of what are called The National Occupational Standards. Previous to this over 80% of people employed in the care sector had no relevant qualification to do so. Employers are tasked to ensure By April 2007 50% of staff hold appropriate qualifications. Link-ability put great store and resources into training. Staff are contractually required to attend all training.

Quality Statement
Link-ability has a clear statement on its commitment to quality and tools it will use to measure quality. Internal quality is monitored by SMT and The Quality Sub Group of the board of trustees. External quality is measured by Lancashire Supporting people Team, Lancashire County Council, Learning Disabilities 'Preferred Provider' Scheme, The Commission for Social Care Inspection, Investors In People UK, Housing Associations.

Statement of Purpose
Link-ability has produced as required by statute a statement of purpose in respect of Registered Domiciliary Services and a similar statement concerning our only registered care home in Euxton. These are available from the central office for viewing.

Abuse
No Secrets in Lancashire, it is a concern that despite the improvements in the care sector in recent years that abuse of vulnerable adults continues to be disclosed. The case is the same in services to children. Link-ability provide POVA / POCA training for all staff. Link-ability adopts the DoH publication ' No Secrets' and works within the 'No Secrets In Lancashire' Policy.
