Link-Ability began in 1989 when a group of parents got together . . .

In 1989 a group of parents of children with learning disabilities got together, with the help of local and national charities, professional people and Social Services, decided that they wanted something better for their children than was available at the time.

Link-Ability helps people with learning difficulties get homes, care and support

Link-Ability is a registered Charity with its registered office in Chorley, Lancashire, which helps people with learning difficulties get homes, care and support.  More recently it has opened a branch office in Heywood, providing services for RMBC.

We do this in partnership with health, Social Services, housing providers and other local voluntary faith organisations.

Link-Ability is committed to providing the very best care or personal support required in order to meet the needs of people using its services it achieves this by making sure staff are well trained to the specific needs of the people concerned.

When someone comes to us requesting our help, we listen to the views of the person needing that help, the views of the people who know them well and views of the people who care for them most. Collectively we produce a 'person centred' plan for care and support.

Link-Ability employs over 150 highly trained staff in Management, Administrative and direct care or personal support positions committed to ensuring the rights of the individuals with learning disabilities. Link-Ability are recognised Investors In People UK.  We are a preferred provider with Lancashire Learning Disability Adult and Community Services Directorate and more recently have been accredited for services with RMBC.

All our staff have Enhanced CRB background checks before they come to work for us.

Link-Ability has a Board of Trustees who meet regularly to check that everything is done properly and that people we support are safe and well cared for at all times.
